Imaginal Cards are intended to be Oracular - your personal wise counsel. Seek inspiration and guidance only for those opportunities or challenges you do not yet know the answer.

  1. To release the full potency of Imaginal Cards be open to whatever emerges or 'speaks to you' through each card.
  2. Time is the enemy of imaginal thinking, try to provide yourself with adequate space to 'be with' each cards.
  3. When time is of the essence, use the word prompt side of each cards to get unstuck in a hurry.

 

Approach#1:  Random   

Decide your primary focus - your Imaginal Topic.

As it relates to your Imaginal Topic, decide your intention for using your Imaginal Cards - your intention will determine which side of an Imaginal Card you are more drawn to work with.

Shuffle your Imaginal Card deck. Draw a single card in response to your focus from anywhere within the deck. Trust the card even if its appropriateness to your Imaginal Topic is unclear. 

Utilise what the card offers to draw out new or fresh alternatives to your Imaginal Topic. Keep working with your card even as new ideas emerge. It will be self-evident when it is time to conclude.

Approach #2: Systematic

Decide your primary focus - your Imaginal Topic.

Ad it relates to your Imaginal Topic, decide your intention for using your Imaginal Cards - your intention will determine which side of an Imaginal Card you are more drawn to work with.

Shuffle your Imaginal Card deck. Draw your first card from the top of your Imaginal Card deck. Utilise what the card immediately offers to draw out a fresh idea or new alternative to your Imaginal Topic

Draw up to ten cards in sequence, using each card to prompt new thinking, create novel ideas, or connect different perspectives for your Imaginal Topic.
